Michael Lee "Mickey" Fox

Sometime late Friday night, the Lord sent his angels down to bring Mickey L. Fox of Towanda home while he was sleeping in his recliner with his little buddy Tucker. Mickey was born on January 3, 1956, to loving parents Edward and Sally Zacharias Fox. Mickey was named after "Mickey Mantle" and this is where his love of sports developed. There were only two teams, Notre Dame College football and the Yankees! Mickey was a simple man and loved all that Bradford County had to offer. He grew up on Poplar Street in Towanda in the 50's-60's and wow what a childhood. That was when you were outside either playing baseball, kick-the-can, or kickball and in the summer, you were swimming at the SCI. Wonderful neighborhood of all ages. Mickey started in Little League with his brother Dan. Off to Towanda High School where Mickey excelled at JV baseball, football, and basketball and then on to varsity sports. He was so proud of his Towanda Black Knight Jacket. Upon graduation, Mickey attended Pennsylvania College of Technology and was enrolled in Broadcasting. Mickey spent many years working for various radio stations. Later in life, Mickey spent many years working for Kuhl's Flowers and Landscaping in Mansfield, Pa. Mickey became a part of the Kuhl's family (Joe and Betsy) who were so dear to him. In the later part of his life, MIckey joined another family business -Clarks Furniture in Wysox, PA. There Buddy Clark and MIckey formed a lasting friendship until Buddy's death. In 2018 due to declining health, MIckey retired. Mickey will be remembered for his good and bad jokes, his love of cheeseburgers, pizza, and a cold beer. His family will remember his love of Halloween especially the costume parties at The Pub in Towanda. Also all the planning and trash talk about his great Christmas Auction gift 6 months ahead of Christmas. Mickey loved giving Christmas gifts that usually included some type of dancing and singing elf! But most of all Mickey will be remembered for his "pork cutlets". This was a recipe that dates back to the Athens IR Foundry Clambakes where Mickey helped out as a teenager. If ever you were lucky to taste one you knew that you could not eat just one. Just ask Mickey's closest friends Joe Magee, Rob Place, or Peachy. Mickey was predeceased by his grandparents, parents and three best friends and brother-in-law, Steven Shaylor, Buddy Clark, Bob Baker, and Ray Finlin. Mickey is survived by, his sisters and brother and two aunts, Joann Zacharias and special Aunt Pat McGovern, sister, Mary Rose Shaylor (David Baran), nephew whom Mickey would discuss at length sports trivial, Joshua Shaylor, sister, Patty Polito (Bob), nephews, Alec, Sam, and Max, brother, Dan Fox (Janet), Laurie, Megan, and Brian. Mickey was so lucky to have belonged to another family that he loved so much. Bruce and Dianne Goodwin and their son and his family. Casey (Sarah) Clark and children, Axl and Stella all of Port Clinton Ohio. Boy could college football games be interesting when they were all together! Mickey also had a special friend/sister, Sue Roy of Wysox. Quote from Mickey Mantle, ''When everything goes wrong, Just remember that the sun will rise tomorrow!" There will be a celebration of Mickey's life in the future.
