Anastasia Millie Patsy Regan Millie Regan of Athens, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2013 following a brief illness. She was born July 7th in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Lazorcheck Patsy. Known to everyone as Millie, her real name was Anastasia Olga Patsy. And she was so proud of that name. On August 9th, 1947 in the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sayre, PA she married the love of her life and husband of 63 years, the late Leo Regan. Together with their eight children, spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many sisters, brothers, in-laws and Ridgebury area families they shared many happy get togethers with Millie cooking up a storm for everyone. Everyone always knew they could show up for dinner and there would be plenty of food. Apple pie, homemade bread and bread-n-butter pickles were particular favorites for many family members. There was never a guest in the Regan home – everyone was family. She was a member of Epiphany Parish with life-long attendance at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ridgebury. Faith was first in Millie’s heart and eyes. Millie Regan attended Sayre High School with the class of 1943. She was an avid reader of many daily newspapers including the three local papers and the New York Times for many years (particularly the NY Times Sunday Fashion Magazine). There was not much that happened in the Valley or greater Elmira Area that Millie didn’t know about as she read the papers front to back. Academics were important to Millie as she was the push behind all of her children doing well in school. She was most proud of all the college degrees earned by her children and grandchildren. Millie started working prior to marriage by babysitting for her sister; making soda’s at her favorite job at The Chocolate Shop in downtown Sayre; and sewing at the former Sayre Lingerie. Once married, she took pride in raising her children, attending to her home and hosting many holiday meals for family and friends. She was also a great help on the farm with Leo. Millie always said she never milked cows but she could drive the tractor, throw hay bales and clean the barn better than anyone. After raising her family, she worked at Morton Cleaners, Athens Schools and then ended her working career as the information desk receptionist for the Guthrie Clinic. She loved being with people. She actively attended sporting events especially Athens High School wrestling, football, baseball and track. Millie was an avid NY Yankees and Notre Dame fan but if one of those teams weren’t on TV she would find a sports show to watch. One of Millie’s finest talents was to continually be on-trend with latest fashion styles and always looked stunning for Sunday mass as well as daily trips to the Valley. Millie is survived by her children, Maureen Evanski and her husband Dr. Phillip Evanski of New Hope, PA; Patricia Panzarella and her fiancé, John McKiernan of Emmaus, PA; Sharon Stimpson and her husband, Jeff Stimpson of Lock Haven, PA; Eileen Miller of Boca Raton, FL; Diane Rizzi and her husband, Len Rizzi of Vero Beach, FL; Bill Regan and his wife Nancy Regan of Easton, PA; Mary Lynn Raupers of Athens, PA; Louise Walter and her husband Eric Walter of Walker, MI. Grandchildren and great grandchildren: Lara and Tony Ignaczak (Luke, Alexa, Nicholas); Phillip and Elizabeth Evanski (Chance, Suah), Michael Evanski and fiancé Su; Todd and Kari Crouse (Michael, Kellen), Kristin and Charles Kennedy (Tanner, Brennan); Patrick Crouse and fiancé Jodi Szerszen; Michael and Mindy Stimpson (Avery); Colleen and Jeff Davis; Colby and Justin Podolsky; Shannon and Clint Rahjes; Katie and Graham Manley (Regan); Courtney and Marcus Millen; Lindsay Regan and fiancé Dan Sowash (Tucker); Aaron and Kristin Raupers (Nolan); Cory and Erin Raupers; Shane Raupers and friend Carly Lenger; Ashley and Eli Dodge. Millie is survived by sisters Eva Coulter, Irene Bowman and Phyllis Focht along with sisters-in-law Mary Hanrahan and Marge Regan. She was predeceased by siblings Anna Fitzgibbons, Helen Smith, Mary SanMilan, Sophie Cost, Caroline Patsy, John Patsy, Tillie Lacey and William Paul Patsy. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home 314 Desmond Street, Sayre, PA. A prayer service will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. at the Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home 314 Desmond Street, Sayre, PA followed by a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ridgebury, PA. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery, Waverly, NY. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Epiphany Catholic School, 627 Stevenson St. Sayre, PA 18840 or to a charity of choice.
